Singer and actor Halle Bailey who is known for her work in the TV series ‘Grown-ish’ has announced that filming for Disney’s live-action remake ‘The Little Mermaid’ has wrapped up. Most of the filming for the remake took place in Iver, England and Sardinia, Italy.
Posting a sultry photograph of her in the ocean as the waves lap at her during sunset, Halle wrote a long note on her Instagram handle sharing how grateful she feels to have completed the movie. “And just like that..that’s a wrap after auditioning for this film when i was 18 just about to turn 19 , to now finishing filming through a pandemic when i turned 21 ..we have finally made it…i feel so grateful to have experienced this film in all of its glory..it has been the toughest experience being away from everything and everyone i’ve ever known, to feeling self-doubt/ loneliness, but also feeling such freedom and perseverance as i’ve reached the end. this experience has made me so much stronger than i ever thought i could be (sic),” wrote Halle.
Actor Jonah Hauer-King plays Prince Eric in the remake which is directed by Rob Marshall.
The 21-year-old singer will become the first Black actor to play the iconic role. The move by Disney was considered a controversial one and received a heavy backlash by fans when the announcement was made in 2019.
Other cast members of the live-action remake of 1989 classic include Awkwafina, Jacob Tremblay, Javier Bardem, Daveed Diggs and Melissa McCarthy. The music for the film is composed by Alan Menken.
