Hanamkonda: Experts stress on need of critical integration of technology in higher education

In a new learning pattern implemented at the university instructors dedicate ten minutes of each hour-long class to explaining concepts with the remaining fifty minutes devoted to hypothetical learning and practice-based activities.

Hanamkonda: SR University hosted a one-day workshop on “National Education Policy (NEP) 2020: Integrating generative AI, interactive e-content and advanced technologies in higher education”.

SR University Vice Chancellor Prof. Deepak Garg in his address stated that the university approaches education with a modern mindset. Emphasis was laid on academic excellence, enriching, innovative entrepreneurial learning, out-of-the-box thinking and application of theoretical concepts to real-world challenges.


In a new learning pattern implemented at the university instructors dedicate ten minutes of each hour-long class to explaining concepts with the remaining fifty minutes devoted to hypothetical learning and practice-based activities.

The head of the ICT and project management unit at New Delhi based National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) Prof. K Srinivas stressed on the need for critical integration of technology in higher education, a key area highlighted by the National Education Policy (NEP).

A central theme at the workshop was the importance of blended learning, combining traditional classroom instruction with online methodologies. This approach fosters engaging and flexible learning, increasing accessibility and adaptability for students.

Discussions took place on effective course design emerged as crucial for successful technology-driven education, the use of AI-driven tools to maximise educational impact. The transition from traditional teacher-led instruction to a facilitative model, where teachers act as mentors guiding critical thinking and collaborative learning was also highlighted.

A key message was the role of technology as an enabler rather than a replacement for traditional teaching. The workshop concluded with a call to action for universities and educators to adopt technology-driven pedagogical approaches while preserving the core principles of experiential and learner-centric education.

The university’s School of Business dean Prof. Dr. N Suman Kumar, its head, associate Prof. Dr. M Rajya Laxmi and programme coordinator Dr. T Srinivas also spoke.
