Hyderabad: It is no secret that several people are struggling to get plasma, medicines and also beds with ventilators across the country. Though several groups are working round-the- clock to help them, a tweet or post from a celebrity with a high number of followers gets the message across to more people, and in turn, a faster solution. That is where Test cricketer G Hanuma Vihari is making a difference.
Away in England playing for Warwickshire since a month, the former Hyderabad captain, who is from Kowkur of Secunderabad, has been sharing the requests he gets, and in several instances, has managed to help the needy. In the last one week or so, people across Andhra and Telangana have sought help for Covid-19 patients and Vihari obliged by following up their cases from England.
When Pratach Achari said he required Plasma (blood group A+ve) at a hospital in Kurnool, the 27-year-old Vihari was successful through his network and replied: ‘By tomorrow morning it will be arranged’. A thankful Achari said: Literally no words coming, Anna.
There was another tweet requesting for a bed with ICU ventilator in Vijayawada for a 69-year-old Rajulapati Ramachandra sent by Team Sahruday. Vihari managed the bed and tweeted saying ‘Taken care’. There was one tweet from Abhishek Murarka seeking medicines, to which Vihari replied:
“DM with prescription”. Murakika listed the medicines: Bevacizunab Inj, Barcitinib Inj, Ulinastanin Inj, Mythene Blue Inj, Ansolone-125 Inj, Thymosin Alpha Inj, FabiFlu Tab, Isavvconazole 100 mg TabL. Vihari replied, Above mentioned are available in Hyderabad right now.
Commentator Harsha Bhogle took note of Vihari’s active participation from England and took to Twitter to praise Vihari’s work. “So so happy to see the kind of work @Hanumavihari is doing through his twitter handle. Idi mee goppatanam (This is your greatness).’’
Vihari has kept himself busy in the new role even as he is preparing for county matches and also for the forthcoming India Test series in England.
