Karimnagar: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Monday said he would convince Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to sanction a medical college for Huzurabad if TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav gets elected in the Assembly by-poll.

Speaking at a function to welcome BJP leaders led by Srikanth into the TRS fold in Jammikunta, the Minister said nothing would be achieved by electing BJP candidate Eatala Rajender. “Why would people want to vote for BJP? Do you want to vote for BJP that increased prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and other commodities?” He asked.

Stating that BJP had assured the people of the country that it would bring back black money deposited in foreign banks, he said the party not only did not keep its promise but was now selling away Public Sector Undertakings such as Visakha Steel Plant, LIC and others, reducing employment opportunities for the youth.

“About 50,000 employees of BSNL were removed from services. It is not possible to implement OBC, SC, ST reservations if government companies are privatized. In Gujarat where BJP is in power, government employees are forced to work 12 hours while in Telangana, the working hours was only eight hours. Also, Gujarat pays only Rs 7,200 salary to Anganwadi workers while in Telangana, they get Rs 13,750,” he said.

Pointing out that Telangana government employees were the highest paid in the country, he said that besides enhancing salaries of government employees, the government was also giving priority to anganwadi workers, home guards and ASHA workers. “While Telangana recorded phenomenal growth in the agriculture sector, the BJP government at the Centre brought in the black farm laws. Demonetization of currency was also a big flop show,” Harish Rao said.

Responding to Rajender’s allegations that TRS leaders were trying to lure his followers, the Minister said there was no leadership in the saffron party. “Huzurabad was a stronghold of TRS long before Rajender joined the party,” he said. There was no correlation between talking and implementation by Rajender. Harish Rao challenged to quit politics if the situation was raised to distribute money and liquor to attract voters.

“Rajender had earlier said that he has 200 acres of land and will give Rs 10,000 to each voter by selling one acre. Out of frustration, the BJP leader is talking nonsense as no leader is available with him” Minister said.
Reacting on BJP leader’s allegation that TRS was distributing money to voters, Harish Rao found fault with Rajender for distributing wall clocks, masks, umbrellas, goats and arranging dinners.

TRS party was relying on welfare schemes such as Kalyanalaxmi, Aasara pensions, Rythu Bandhu, 24 hours free current and others. It was not proper to expect milk from buffalo by offering grass to bulls, he observed.

Welfare Minister Koppula Eashwar, Warangal East MLA Nannapaneni Narender, former Minister E Peddireddy and others were present.
