Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao has accepted Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s challenge for a debate on the Godavari-Banakacherla project in Andhra Pradesh.
Vowing to expose the Chief Minister’s “lies” with facts and figures on any public platform, he said BRS leaders would continue to haunt the Congress government until all electoral promises were fulfilled, regardless of the Chief Minister’s “false propaganda, and abusive political rhetoric.”
Issuing a strong counter to Revanth Reddy’s claims, Harish Rao accused him of misleading the people of Telangana with false narratives about the Godavari-Banakacherla project.
He objected to the Chief Minister’s remarks against BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, calling them “uncivil, narrow-minded, and unbecoming of a Chief Minister.”
“You came to power with false promises and propaganda, but failed to deliver on even one major promise. Your frustration is clear,” he said.
Responding to Revanth Reddy likening Chandrashekhar Rao to ‘Ravana’ as he had lost elections, Harish Rao retorted, “By your logic, is Rahul Gandhi also Ravana as he lost the election?”
Questioning the Congress government’s failure to repair the damaged piers of the Medigadda barrage while levelling baseless corruption charges against the previous BRS regime, he said Telangana would never forgive Revanth Reddy for insulting Chandrashekhar Rao, who had implemented Rythu Bandhu, invested Rs.80,000 crore through the scheme and turned agriculture into a celebration for farmers.
Refuting the Chief Minister’s claim that Telangana had become a desert under BRS rule, Harish Rao pointed out that the State had become the number one paddy producer in the country.
“If that were true, how did Telangana achieve this milestone? Have you constructed a single check dam or dug a canal to increase paddy production?” he asked.
The senior legislator said the people of Telangana could clearly see through the Congress government’s incompetence and false propaganda.
He ridiculed the Chief Minister for asking the Opposition leader to demand a special Assembly session, despite being the Leader of the House himself and having the authority to request the Speaker to convene one.
