Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS senior MLA T Harish Rao condemned the arrest of Chenchu tribal representatives who attempted to meet Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and raise their issues during his visit to Nagarkurnool on Monday. He demanded the immediate release of Mallikarjun, Padma, Guruvayya, and others detained at Amrabad police station.

“Is this how a Chief Minister who hails from Nallamala treats the children of the forest?” he questioned, calling the arrests undemocratic. He slammed the Congress government for suppressing tribal voices instead of addressing their legitimate concerns.

The BRS legislator supported the demands of the Chenchu community, including the appointment of an IAS officer as ITDA Project Officer, the cultivation of Podu lands allotted under the previous BRS regime, and the use of tribal temples’ income for tribal development, stating none of these justified police action.
