Hyderabad: Former Minister T Harish Rao said Telangana had emerged as a model for the nation under the BRS’s ten-year rule, but was now witnessing decline under the Congress regime. BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao‘s vision had transformed Telangana into a leader in growth, welfare, and governance, he said.
“When Telangana was formed, many doubted our ability to govern. But KCR proved everyone wrong, from ensuring 24-hour power and clean drinking water to making Telangana number one in per capita income and agricultural growth,” he said.
Addressing residents of Vasavi Brindavanam Apartments in Motinagar, Erragadda on Sunday, Harish Rao pointed out that per capita income rose from Rs 1.24 lakh in 2014 to Rs 3.74 lakh in 2023, while paddy production increased from 68 lakh metric tonnes to 2.7 crore metric tonnes.

KCR’s initiatives like Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya became national models, inspiring the Centre’s Har Ghar Jal and Amrit Sarovar schemes respectively. Hyderabad became safer with 10 lakh CCTV cameras and SHE Teams, he pointed out.
On the other hand, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had derailed the State’s growth in just two years, he said, citing stalled industries, collapsing real estate and rampant corruption.
“Under KCR’s rule, investors queued up to invest in Telangana. But under Congress, farmers are forced to stand in line for fertilisers,” he remarked.
The Congress regime had crippled Hyderabad’s real estate with its mandatory 30 per cent commissions for permits and was causing panic with demolitions using HYDRAA, he said.
“The BRS built 43 flyovers, but not one new road has been laid in two years of Congress rule,” he said, appealing to voters to support BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha in the Jubilee Hills bypoll to restore Telangana’s growth and dignity.
