Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of deceiving people with hollow promises. He demanded the immediate release of pending salaries, retirement benefits, and other arrears to government employees and pensioners, without further delay.

Following a meeting with retired government employees, Harish Rao said it was shameful that scavengers appointed for sanitation in government schools have not been paid salaries for the last nine months during the current academic year, apart from four months’ salary from the previous academic year.

“Can’t you respect the hard work of small employees? Under Congress rule, retired teachers and employees are being pushed into misery, while waiting endlessly for their retirement benefits and pending salaries,” he added.

The BRS MLA slammed the government for withholding funds under the mid-day meal scheme for nearly a year and discontinuing the popular Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme launched by the previous BRS government.

“You are also the Education Minister, yet you ignore the salary problems of teachers and employees in your own department,” he said, targeting the Chief Minister.

Calling the delay in retirement benefits inhuman and immoral, he said it was painful to learn about the struggles of teachers and employees while waiting for months for their rightful benefits.
