Hyderabad: Former Minister T Harish Rao expressed anguish over the severe distress faced by Telangana farmers as untimely rains damaged paddy crops across the State. He criticised the Congress government’s delay in procurement, urging Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to act swiftly.

“Farmers are in tears at every procurement centre. The crop cultivated with six months of toil is now soaked and damaged due to thunderstorm,” he said.

Taking a direct jab at the Chief Minister, Harish Rao said Revanth Reddy, who is conducting reviews from the Integrated Command Control Centre amid police protection, must open his eyes and come to the rescue of farmers.

“Farmers are in distress. Assure them that every soaked grain will be purchased. Transfer the payment without delay and safeguard the cultivators of this country,” he urged.
