Hyderabad: Senior BRS MLA and former Minister T Harish Rao lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday, stating that he was failing school children in the State while making grand claims about Vision 2047. He criticised the Congress government for its neglect of the education sector in just 20 months and its inability to ensure even mid-day meals to students as per the menu.

Harish Rao said students in government schools were now forced to go hungry or survive on Sambar or chilli powder and oil due to unpaid mid-day meal bills for over three months. He said that due to the government’s apathy, students were not getting nutritious meals as per the menu.

“It is ridiculous for a Chief Minister who cannot ensure proper meals for children to speak of a golden future,” he remarked.

The former Minister questioned the absence of an active Education Minister in the Congress Cabinet. He stated that the department was abandoned, while the Chief Minister was busy with Delhi visits and diversion politics. He demanded an immediate review of the education department and the release of pending mid-day meal bills to ensure students did not go hungry.

“While the Chief Minister boasts about integrated schools and skilled universities, his negligence has led to erosion of trust in government schools and tarnishing the image of Gurukul residential schools,” he added.
