Kothagudem: Former Minister T Harish Rao questioned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to explain the rationale behind the ‘Rythu Ashirwada Sabha’ scheduled to be held at Madhira in Khammam district on June 30.
The BRS leader sought to know why the meeting is being held; is it for going back on the ‘Rythu Bandhu’ scheme for farmers, halting ‘Rythu Bima’ or breaking the promise regarding farm loan waiver to farmers in the State.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka is appealing to farmers to bless Revanth Reddy by attending the meeting, but why should they bless him, he questioned adding that while the Congress government is buying time using apps as an excuse the farmers are struggling to get urea.
Addressing the BRS party workers at Aswaraopet in the district on Tuesday, Harish Rao stated that Revanth Reddy promised Rs 10,000 per acre when crops were damaged by heavy rains last year but none of the farmers received even a single rupee.
Revanth Reddy failed as Education Minister, as Municipal
Administration Minister and as Home Minister; yet, despite failing in these three portfolios, he succeeded in carrying bundles of cash to Delhi in his desperate attempts to save his chair, the former Minister noted.
Hitting at Minister Jupally Krishna Rao for his reported claims on crop loan waiver and Rythu Bandhu, Harish Rao said that the value of Rythu Bandhu payments the government withheld amounts to Rs 29,350 crore. He advised the Minister to get his figures straight and challenged the Minister to come for a debate on the issue in the Assembly.
Playing down Revanth Reddy’s comments that BRS would not get the status of the main opposition party in the next elections, Harish Rao said “Yes he is right; why would the BRS get the opposition status? It would get the status of the ruling party as the people are looking towards BRS to come to power again.”
Harish Rao alleged that police high-handedness against the BRS cadres has increased and warned that if the police file illegal cases against the cadres at the behest of the Congress party, they would face severe consequences.
