Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday termed the two dengue deaths reported from Timmapur village in Jagadevpur mandal as “murders by the State government.” The deceased were Kontham Mahesh (34) and Nayani Shiva Kumar (16), who died after undergoing treatment in hospitals for several days.

After visiting the families of the victims, Harish Rao said negligence in maintaining sanitation in villages had led to the spread of diseases. He said at least 60 people from the small village had tested positive for dengue and were admitted to different hospitals. Many were forced to seek treatment at private hospitals, pushing families into financial distress due to heavy medical expenses.

Citing Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy’s criticism of the Chief Minister, the BRS leader said Revanth Reddy had proved to be inefficient in administration except abusing the opposition leaders. He recalled that the previous BRS government under K Chandrashekhar Rao released Rs.300 crore every month to panchayats, while the present government had not released a single rupee, paralysing administration and sanitation.

He also questioned the government’s intelligence network for failing to alert it on the deteriorating conditions in villages. Referring to the fertiliser shortage, he said farmers were standing in long queues from early morning yet were not receiving their due share.

Harish Rao said that when BRS was in power, it ensured 26,000 metric tonnes of urea reached Gajwel rake point, but the Congress government had so far failed to supply even 3,000 metric tonnes.
