Warangal: Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao took Prime Minister Narendra Modi to task for his controversial remarks on migrant labourers. “Modi who spewed venom on Telangana recently also spoke ill of the poor migrant workers. While all that the migrant workers wanted to remain alive, Modi makes comments at will,” the Minister said.
Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Harish Rao said the Modi government announced the lockdown without preparation causing untold miseries to so many labourers. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, on the contrary, offered food, money and arranged special trains to the migrant workers to reach their home towns. But Modi is mocking all these activities, and criticising the people who helped the migrant workers,” he said.
Going after the Prime Minister, the Minister said that instead of appreciating these humanitarian efforts, Modi had humiliated them. “Why is he looking down upon the poor labourer and accusing them of spreading the virus,” Harish asked. “You brought Donald Trump and arranged meetings. Were they not cause for spread of the virus?” Harish Rao asked Modi.
The Minister also took on Modi for his comments on creation of Telangana, stating that the Centre did sanction the coach factory to Warangal. “While 157 medical colleges were sanctioned by the Centre, no medical college was sanctioned to Telnagana State. It also did not sanctiond a single Navodaya School or IIM or IIIT,” Harish Rao said, adding that BJP had no support in Telangana State now. “Whatever you (Modi government) do, the development of Telangana State will not stop,” he added.
Harish Rao has also appealed to journalists who played a key role in achieving Telangana State to condemn Modi’s remarks on Telangana.
