Hyderabad: Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has decided to sanction Rs 3 lakh to former women’s cricket international SK Sravanthi Naidu, whose parents are in hospital for treatment of Covid-19.
Sravanthi, who played in 11 International matches (one Test, four one-dayers, and six T20), has been running between two hospitals for the past ten days.
“My mother is in a critical position while my father is also in the ICU. They are fighting for their lives. I thank HCA for their immediate response,” she said. Sravanthi’s father Govind retired as a supervisor in TSRTC.
Vidya Yadav, sister of former India off-spinner and former BCCI ad-hoc president N Shivlal Yadav, too swung into action for the much needed financial assistance to Sravanthi by contacting various people.
Commonwealth gold medallist Jwala Gutta tweeted: “Former India and Hyderabad all rounder Sravanthi Naidu’s parents r fighting Covid-19. She already spent Rs 16 lakh and is in urgent need for more funds for hospital expenses.”
To which India international G Hanuma Vihari, who is in the forefront of helping the Covid-19 patients even though he is in England, responded and promised help to Sravanthi. He tweeted: “We will do our bit as well. Our team will be in touch with her. Thank you Jwala.”
