Heavy rainfall batters Hyderabad and neighbouring districts
Hyderabad and its neighbouring districts witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall overnight, with Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy recording the highest showers up to 46 mm, leaving several areas soaked under damp and chilly weather.
Hyderabad: Moderate to heavy rainfall continued to batter Hyderabad and neighboring districts of Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy. The three districts received rainfall that ranged from 20 mm to 46 mm between Sunday night and early hours of Monday, which led to overcast cold and damp conditions.
Under the influence of the low pressure area, multiple regions across Hyderabad and outskirts started reporting heavy rainfall from Sunday night onwards. While core areas of Hyderabad remained relatively dry, the downpour was severe in areas under Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts.
The highest rainfall of 46.3 mm was recorded at Hyder Nagar, HMT Hills, Kukatpally in Medchal-Malkajgiri , followed by Vinayak Nagar in Malkajgiri which witnessed 45 mm of rainfall, according to the rainfall data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TSDPS).
Some of the other areas that recorded maximum rainfall include Rajiv Gruhakalpa, Gajularamaram in Medchal-Malkajgiri (43.8 mm), Kapra (42.5 mm), University of Hyderabad in Serilingampally (42.5 mm), Kushaiguda old ward office, Cherlapally area in Kapra (42.3 mm), areas near JPN Nagar community hall, Chandanagar (41 mm), Shamshiguda in Kukatpally (40.5 mm).
