Heavy rains lashed Telangana under renewed active monsoon conditions, with Siddipet recording the State’s highest rainfall. Kondapak received 145.3 mm, while several Hyderabad areas, including Secunderabad, Bowenpally and Alwal, witnessed heavy rain and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Several Telangana districts received heavy overnight rain, with Kesamudram in Mahabubabad recording 191.3 mm. Mancherial, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Warangal, Jangaon and Nalgonda also recorded heavy rainfall, while Hyderabad and surrounding areas received light to moderate showers.
Hyderabad’s weather has remained unpredictable through August, with cloudy skies, brief drizzles, sunshine, high humidity and gusty winds alternating frequently. Despite expectations of a rainy month, the city has not witnessed any major spell of heavy rainfall so far.
Intermittent rain continued across Hyderabad on Wednesday morning after heavy showers on Tuesday disrupted normal life. The IMD has forecast more moderate rainfall through the day, with commuters likely to face traffic congestion, waterlogging and other rain-related challenges during evening hours.
Hyderabad and its neighbouring districts witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall overnight, with Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy recording the highest showers up to 46 mm, leaving several areas soaked under damp and chilly weather.
Marredpally received the highest rainfall in Hyderabad on Friday with 4 mm, as per TDPS data. Light showers were recorded across several areas, including Kukatpally, Khairatabad and Nampally. Rainfall continued from 2 pm to 5 pm
