Bhongir: Heavy downpour battered Yadadri Bhongir district on Thursday, triggering flooding on several roads.
The Nalgonda-Bhongir road near Nagireddipalli village was closed as a major stretch was submerged due to overflowing local streams. Traffic was diverted to safer routes.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued warnings for heavy rainfall across Telangana, including Yadadri Bhongir and Nalgonda, due to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. Yadadri Bhongir recorded the highest rainfall, with Atmakur logging 15.40 cm and Addagudur 13.13 cm. The Musi River, swollen by the deluge, overflowed at multiple points, including low-level bridges and causeways.
Further downstream, Rudravelli village witnessed heavy flooding, closing the low-level causeway on the Musi. Several heavy vehicles were stranded on either side of the causeway.
