Heavy rains lash Hyderabad; Defence Colony in Hayathnagar records 85 mm rainfall
A powerful thunderstorm struck Hyderabad on Sunday evening, with eastern parts like Hayathnagar, Uppal and LB Nagar receiving significant rainfall. Defence Colony in Hayathnagar recorded the highest at 85 mm. The downpour later spread to areas like Jeedimetla, Balanagar and Nizampet.
Hyderabad: Intense spell of downpour accompanied by thunder hit multiple locations in Greater Hyderabad on Sunday evening.
The heavy downpour started in the eastern parts of Hyderabad including Hayathnagar, Uppal, LB Nagar, Malkajgiri, parts of Kapra, Boduppal, Nacharam, Mallapur and colonies in Kothapet.
Based on the rainfall data by Telangana State Development Planning Society ( TGDPS )on Sunday evening ( 8pm), Defence colony in Hayathnagar area received the maximum rainfall of 85 mm, Hayathnagar witnessed 51.5 mm, GHMC Zonal office Uppal witnessed 25 mm, NGOs colony Vanasthalipuram received 22.8 mm of rainfall.
Some of the other areas where the thunderstorms started to spread and rains were reported include Jeedimetla, industrial area, Balanagar, Dammaiguda, Nagaram, Nizampet and nearby localities.
Earlier, independent weather trackers from Hyderabad had released a forecast alerting people to be prepared for a possible thunderstorm between 8.15 pm and 12 am on Sunday.
