Heavy rains lash Hyderabad, Hayathnagar records 103.8 mm

Heavy rains lashed Hyderabad on Wednesday, with Hayathnagar recording 103.8 mm of rainfall. Several eastern areas were inundated, causing traffic congestion and disruption to normal life. Other parts, including Vanasthalipuram, Bandlaguda and L B Nagar, also recorded moderate rainfall

Hyderabad: A heavy downpour lashed Hyderabad on Wednesday evening, with the eastern parts of the city bearing the brunt. A short but intense spell brought 103.8 mm of rainfall to Hayathnagar, inundating nearby low-lying areas in sheets of water.

The spell later settled into moderate to light showers, which continued through the evening across the city, disrupting traffic and normal life. The downpour led to traffic congestion and gridlocks, leaving commuters stranded during peak hours.

According to data recorded by TSDPS ( Telangana State Development Planning Society) till 6 pm, Hayathnagar received 103.8 mm of rainfall, Defence Colony in Hayathnagar 94.3 mm, Prashanth Nagar in Vanasthalipuram 35.8 mm, Model Market NGOs Colony in Vanasthalipuram 33.8 mm, Bandlaguda 31 mm, and South Hastinapuram Colony in L B Nagar 27 mm.

With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicating light to moderate rainfall in Hyderabad, the District Collector Harichandana Dasari advised residents of low-lying areas and commuters to stay alert.

In an official statement, the Collector urged residents to report any rain-related issues by calling the control room mobile phone helpline number 9063423979, which has been established at the Hyderabad Collectorate.
