Hyderabad: After a brief hiatus, rains returned to the city on Thursday evening. The widespread rain had Serilingampally logging in 44.3 mm, making it the area with the highest rainfall in the city on Thursday.

According to Telangana Development Planning Society data recorded in 20 circles of the city till 6 pm, Moosapet had the lowest rainfall recorded at 8.5 mm.

Though the skies remained overcast for most part of the day since early hours, the rains made an appearance only late afternoon. Areas including Kukatpally, Pragathi Nagar, Vivekananda Nagar, Miyapur, Moosapet, Gandimaisamma, Lakdikapul, Secunderabad, and Uppal, recorded good rainfall.

Given the timing of the downpour, those returning home from work were caught in the rain and had to face issues of water logging and disrupted traffic movement in several parts. Water logging was seen at flyovers of Telugu Thalli, Khairatabad, Basheerbagh, Masab Tank, Narayanguda, Madhapur and LB Nagar.

Meanwhile, Hydraa’s Monsoon Emergency Teams and DRF teams were on alert and engaged in flood prevention measures. The police, GHMC, traffic, and fire department control rooms also remained active to provide immediate services where necessary.
