Hyderabad: After a brief respite from heavy rains that lasted a few hours, intense thundershowers returned on Thursday afternoon, pounding several localities in the eastern and north-eastern parts of the city.
Areas including LB Nagar, Uppal, Habsiguda, Ramanthapur, Amberpet, Tarnaka, and Moula Ali, along with Secunderabad’s north-eastern localities such as Neredmet, Alwal, Bowenpally, Safilguda, Yapral, Thumukunta, Kapra, ECIL, Sainikpuri, Dammaiguda and surrounding colonies, witnessed a heavy downpour lasting nearly an hour. The spell later eased into a drizzle, leaving the weather overcast and the streets waterlogged.
With Thursday being a working day, the LB Nagar–Nagole–Uppal stretch witnessed heavy traffic snarls as two-wheeler riders took shelter under Hyderabad Metro bridges and stations. The Habsiguda–Tarnaka stretch too experienced long traffic jams amid the showers.
Similar traffic congestion was reported on SD Road and RP Road in Secunderabad, following heavy rain in Marredpally and neighbouring colonies.
