Hyderabad: As everyone is caught up in the rigmarole of their daily life, not many find time to think about or do anything for the society. But then, there are those who choose to give back to the society, show a sense of responsibility and do their best with whatever means they have.
Sky Foundation, founded by Yanmangandla Sanjeeva Kumar, is one nonprofit organisation wherein volunteers come together and strive to feed hungry people. The NGO’s aim is that ‘no person (even if poor) should sleep without food’. Started in 2012, the NGO saw a lot of like-minded people joining in over the years and presently, there are 400 volunteers who contribute their services on a regular basis to Sky Foundation.
The volunteers from the foundation go to different places and whenever they spot needy people who are struggling for food, they see to it that they are given a hygienic meal which has at least two to three varieties of dishes. They serve around 100 people freshly-made food daily.
Besides providing them food, the volunteers also make sure to urge the unversed to get vaccinated and explain them the need for vaccination against the deadly disease of Covid-19. Sanjeeva Kumar requests that the needy people be provided with an Aadhar Card, to enable them to have some identity which would help them get some proper meals provided by the government.
Sky Foundation pays special attention to cooking and packing the food in a hygienic manner. Sanjeeva believes in hard work and says the food which they distribute is not for all. “I don’t want to give the food to everybody which makes them lazy. I’m choosy that way and we offer the food only to people who are not able to fend for themselves and old people who can’t work,” concludes Sanjeeva who also plans to start an orphanage.
