Hyderabad: Entrepreneur Nayini Anurag Reddy organised a nationwide food donation drive under the banner of “Gift a Smile” to mark the 50th birthday of BRS Working President KT Rama Rao. The initiative was inspired by Rama Rao’s philosophy of compassionate public service.
Held under the theme “Gift a Smile Beyond Boundaries, Spreading Smiles Across India,” the campaign covered 28 states. Nearly 3,500 freshly prepared meals were served to underprivileged communities with the support of volunteers and partner NGOs.
From the streets of Hyderabad to the ghats of Varanasi and from major cities to remote regions, volunteers joined hands to provide meals to people in need.
One of the most memorable events of the campaign was held on the ghats of Varanasi, where hundreds of people were served meals.
In Kashmir, volunteers faced logistical challenges due to continuous rainfall in the preceding days. Despite the adverse weather conditions, they reached the beneficiaries and distributed meals to nearly 200 children and other needy individuals.
“Gift a Smile has always been more than a campaign. It is an emotion. It reminds us that a simple meal, a helping hand or a small act of kindness can restore hope and dignity,” Anurag Reddy said in a statement.
He said the success of the campaign demonstrated that kindness knows no boundaries. While the initiative was organised to commemorate Rama Rao’s milestone birthday, it also conveyed a broader message of unity, compassion and collective responsibility.
