Funeral of Kadali Radha is being telecasted through video call. Santhosh and Archana, settled in the US and Singapore respectively, could not attend their mother’s funeral, who died of Covid

Jagitial: It is not just the NRIs who are unable to participate in the last rites of their loved ones who die of Covid, but also family members and relatives residing in the same locality. While a majority of the people are avoiding taking part in funeral rites of their dear ones, some of them witness the process from a distance.

In such an incident, children of a 55-year-old woman who died of Covid watched her funeral in Jagitial over video call on Wednesday.

Jadali Radha, a resident of Govindpalli, tested positive for the virus and was admitted to Global Hospital, Hyderabad, 20 days ago as her health condition deteriorated. She breathed her last while undergoing treatment on Tuesday.

Her husband Ramakrishna Rao performed her funeral rites in Jagitial at around 7.30 am on Wednesday. However, their son Santhosh and daughter Archana settled in the US and Singapore respectively could not attend the funeral.

The helpless children watched their mother’s final rites over video call. While Ramakrishna Rao was performing the final rites, one of their relatives connected his mobile phone to Santhosh and Archana through video call and telecast the entire process. They broke down while watching their mother’s funeral.

A document writer by profession, Ramakrishna Rao was also infected by the virus during the first wave and recovered from the serious condition. However, he was not infected this time around though his wife had tested positive.

Santhosh, who settled in the US, has not visited India in the last 15 years.
