Hyderabad: Candidates aspiring to become teachers can now apply for the Telangana State Education Common Entrance (TS EdCET) 2021 for admissions into two-year B.Ed courses offered in the colleges in the State. Osmania University which is organising the test has recently announced a new pattern of the exam and schedule.
The applicants should have passed or appearing for the qualifying examination in any bachelor’s degree i.e., B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, B.Sc (Home Science), BCA, BBM, B.A (Oriental Languages), BBA, Bachelors in Engineering or Technology or master’s degree. Candidates must have secured at least 50 per cent aggregate marks (40 per cent marks for SC/ST/BC categories) in the qualifying exam.
As per the schedule, the computer-based entrance test will be conducted on August 24 and 25 in two shifts i.e., 10 am to 12 noon, and 3 pm to 5 pm. A preliminary key will be announced on August 31 and objections on the same will be accepted up to September 3, while results will be announced on September 12.
Starting this year, there will be a common paper for all the subjects. This means in the subject/content section, candidates will have questions from Mathematics, Science and Social Studies subjects. Earlier, candidates had to choose any one of the subjects-Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Social Studies, English, and Oriental Languages.
The entrance test comprises 150 questions including 60 from the subjects (20 questions each from Mathematics, Science and Social Studies), 20 questions each from teaching aptitude, general English, and computer awareness, 30 from general knowledge and educational issues. The question paper which will be in English/Telugu and English/Urdu have to be answered in two hours. Questions in the subject/content section will be drawn from Telangana State curriculum-Mathematics, Science and Social Studies of classes up to 10.
The minimum qualifying marks in the entrance test for all candidates (except SC/ST) is 25 per cent of the aggregate marks. However, there will be no minimum qualifying marks for candidates belonging to SC and ST for ranking. Based on the marks obtained in the TS EdCET 2021, candidates will be ranked.
The online registrations through the website https://edcet.tsche.ac.in/ have commenced and the last date to apply without a late fee is June 15. The fee for the entrance test is Rs 650 (Rs 450 for SC/ST/PH candidates).
