Hyderabad: As the city spreads its wings further, bringing about a major metamorphosis to areas like Kokapet, Narsingi and the vicinities by changing them from once sleepy hamlets into buzzing urban conglomerations, the State government is doing everything possible to maintain the tempo of development.

Among these are two crucial projects aimed at decongesting traffic – the trumpet-shaped interchange at Neopolis Layout, Kokapet and another interchange at Narsingi. These two interchanges are being built by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) at an estimated cost of Rs 65.5 crore with work underway at a brisk pace.

The two facilities will decongest traffic in Kokapet, Narsingi and their surrounding localities, according to HMDA officials. The trumpet-shaped interchange at Neopolis Layout will ensure better connectivity for traffic coming from Neopolis Layout, Movie Towers and localities in Kokapet going towards Gachibowli.

Travelling along a major stretch of the Outer Ring Road to reach Gachibowli can also be avoided once this facility is inaugurated. The interchange also connects the Kokapet Layout to Narsingi, Patancheru and Shamshabad ensuring seamless connectivity. Four ramps (two up and two down) are being built as a part of this project to facilitate the traffic going to these locations.

The interchange at Narsingi is being built to facilitate the traffic going towards Shamshabad and vice-versa. Once these two facilities are made available to people, traffic coming from Kokapet and Narsingi will no longer have to use the traditional route by crossing Narsingi Rotary 2 and Rotary 1 via Narsingi Police Station to reach Gachibowli.

HMDA engineers said the aim is to complete both projects in another six months. Currently, the roads connecting Kokapet and Narsingi to Gachibowli are experiencing heavy traffic due to mushrooming of IT companies and high rise buildings in the area. To further improve connectivity, the road from Gachibowli to Telangana State Police Academy (TSPA) and Narsingi to Kollur is also being widened by the Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited.
