Hyderabad: To address decades-old sewerage issues in Yousufguda, officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) have taken up construction of a sewage line on the Krishna Nagar main road, a press release said on Monday.
The existing sewage line in Krishna Nagar, laid about 40 years ago, was completely damaged and filled with silt, making it unusable. The sewerage line was damaged during metro rail construction and temporarily diverted to a stormwater drain, leading to sewage overflows, contaminated water supply and foul odours, particularly during the rainy season, a statement from Water Board on Monday said.
During a recent inspection, the HMWSSB, MD, K Ashok Reddy, finalised the alignment for a new sewage pipeline. Officials said about 25 per cent of the work was completed, and the remaining work will be expedited to make the system fully operational for the public within the next 30 days, with a focus on quality and completion within the specified time-frame.
