Hyderabad: To ensure public consume treated water during the ongoing rainy season, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has distributed around 6.5 lakh chlorine tablets in slum settlements. The chlorine tablets can disinfectant water, which can be later consumed safely by families living in such settlements. The Water Board is also closely monitoring the quality of drinking water supply in Hyderabad and also ensuring fencing around manholes.

The HMWS&SB in collaboration with GHMC is also taking up works to prevent sewage overflow, ensuring there is adequate supply of water tankers, and clearing garbage choked manholes. “We have deployed men and machinery to make sure the drinking water has adequate amounts of residual chlorine i.e. 0.5 ppm (parts per million),” said MD, HMWS&SB, Dana Kishore on Tuesday said.
