Hyderabad: Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Tuesday interacted with volunteers of city-based NGO Akshaya Vidya at the Bharosa Centre of the Hyderabad City Police.
He appreciated the efforts of the centre in collaborating with Akshaya Vidya and initiating awareness campaigns in the city’s slums against child sexual abuse. Akshaya Vidya runs small education centres in slums in the city wherein the volunteers, who are also from downtrodden families, teach around 30 students each. In turn, the educational expenses of volunteers are taken care of by the NGO.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar interacted with the tutors and said they were nation builders who would have to rise to every occasion. He said the City Police will partner with Akshaya Vidya to curb crime in the slums.
