Hyderabad: The manager of a private hospital in the city died, allegedly by suicide in his house in Gandipet village here on Friday. Police suspect he was under pressure at work and ended his life.

The victim was identified as P. Harish Kumar (35), who is survived by his wife and two children in an apartment in Snehitha Hills in Gandipet village in Narsingi. While Harish was working at a hospital in Banjara Hills, his wife Lakshmi Prasanna worked for a private bank.

According to the police, Harish, who complained of illness did not go to work for two days and was at home. He was visibly depressed and was also taking some medicines, police said, adding that on Friday, he told his wife he was unwell and went into the bedroom. As he did not return even after a long time, his wife grew suspicious and knocked on the door. When there was no response, she informed her family members.

“The door was forcibly opened and he was found hanging from the ceiling fan. His family members and neighbours tried to shift him to the hospital, but he had died by then,” police said, adding that preliminary enquiry revealed that he was depressed over the work pressure he was facing.

The Narsingi police have shifted to the Osmania General Hospital for autopsy and are investigating.
