Warangal Urban: Every household in Warangal city will get daily water supply very shortly, said Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao here on Wednesday.
Speaking after inaugurating the Council Hall of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore, the minister said the TRS government was allocating Rs 300 crore per year in the State budget for the development of the city. He had earlier unveiled a statue of Mahatma Gandhi on GWMC office premises.
“Warangal, the second fastest growing city after Hyderabad, is also emerging as the ‘second capital’ of the State. Both the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao are striving for the development of the Warangal city in a planned way,” he said. “The previous governments never bothered to allocate the special funds to GWMC. But the TRS government is making budgetary allocation,” he added.
“Under the Smart City, the Center provides only 21 per cent of the total project cost, while 81 per cent of our state funds are borne by the State government. While Rs 2. 72 lakhs crore is being given to the Center in the form of taxes, the Centre is providing us only Rs 1.40 lakh crore to us,” he mentioned. He alleged that the BJP leaders were posing as if they were doing all the development in the State. Meanwhile, Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao has announced that the statue of Ambedkar would be unveiled on January 26, 2020.
