The growing cases of fraudsters buying SIM cards by replacing the details on someone else’s identity documents have long been a problem.
However, the Department of Telecommunications has made it easy for you to check if any other person is using a mobile number on your name without your knowledge and take necessary action for regularising your additional mobile connections if any.
How to check all mobile numbers on your name?
1. Go to https://www.tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in/
2. Enter your number and click on request OTP
3. Enter the OTP you have received and click on validate
4. You will see a list of mobile numbers registered on your IDs
5. Select the numbers that are not in your name or not required, and click on the report
6. The department will issue a ticket ID to track the requests
7. No action is required for the numbers you need to retain
Currently, this facility is available only to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh consumers.
As per existing guidelines, individual mobile subscribers can register up to nine mobile connections in their name. If anybody is found allotted mobile numbers beyond nine, that amounts to misuse and through this portal the government wants to curb the menace.
