HSPA team, led by its general secretary K Venkat Sainath, submitting a representation to Telangana Education Commission Chairperson Akunuri Murali.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Schools Parents Association (HSPA) on Tuesday strongly pitched for the establishment of a statutory fee regulation commission to regulate exorbitant fee hikes by private and corporate schools every year.
The HSPA team, led by its general secretary K Venkat Sainath, who met Telangana Education Commission Chairperson Akunuri Murali explained to him in detail about how the fee hikes were being done by the private schools every year.
The team submitted a representation and wanted the fee regulatory commission to be set up on the lines of the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee, which revises the professional colleges fee once in three years, considering the revenue generation and expenditure besides facilities provided by the college managements.
“Why should schools be allowed to hike the fee every year when the salaries of parents don’t go up? Just like for professional colleges, the school fee should be revised by the fee regulatory commission once every three years,” said Venkat Sainath.
Further, the HSPA called for setting up a grievance redressal cell for parents to air their grievances with regard to private schools. The parents body also wanted the Commission to put an end to private schools’ business activities as they were making huge profits by forcefully selling books, uniforms and other stationery to parents at higher prices on the school premises.
