Karimnagar: In the wake of the ongoing rift between Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Adluri Laxman Kumar, police deployed a large contingent at Prabhakar’s Mankammathota residence in Karimnagar town on Wednesday.
Half of the road leading to the residence was also blocked with barricades to prevent protesters from entering the premises.
Taking serious exception to the BC Welfare Minister’s remarks, Laxman Kumar had issued an ultimatum asking Prabhakar to tender an apology by Wednesday.
He warned that if Prabhakar failed to apologise, he would be held responsible for any incidents that might occur in the State. Anticipating possible unrest, police intensified security at the BC Welfare Minister’s residence to prevent any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, Dalit organisations have staged protests demanding an apology from Prabhakar. The MRPS also announced that it would lay siege to the Minister’s residence on Thursday if he failed to apologise.
