Husnabad mandal merger bid aimed at political gain, alleges former BRS MLA

Former Husnabad MLA V. Sathish Kumar accused Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar of seeking political gains by proposing mandal demergers. He warned of public protests and urged voters to back BRS candidates in upcoming municipal polls

Siddipet: Former Husnabad MLA V Sathish Kumar accused Transport Minister and Husnabad MLA Ponnam Prabhakar of attempting to merge Husnabad, Koheda and Akkannapet mandals into Karimnagar district for his personal political gain.

Sathish Kumar, who along with party leaders and cadres distributed Congress Dues cards in Husnabad municipality on Thursday, criticised Prabhakar’s statement on merging the three mandals into Siddipet in an unscientific manner. He said the previous BRS government had conducted gram sabhas in every village and at mandal headquarters before merging the mandals into Siddipet district.


He recalled that Congress leaders had once staged protests demanding the creation of a revenue division and police sub division in Husnabad, which the BRS government later created by accepting the aspirations of the people. He warned that people would launch protests if the government attempted to demerge these mandals from Siddipet.

The two time former Husnabad MLA alleged that Prabhakar had raised the issue of demerger only for his personal political gain by creating divisions among the people. He further claimed that even after completing more than two years in office, the Transport Minister had done nothing for the constituency.

The former BRS MLA called upon voters to teach the Congress party and Ponnam Prabhakar a lesson in the coming municipal elections by voting for BRS candidates.
