Hyderabad: The by-elections to the Huzurabad Assembly constituency in the State, will be held only after the Dasara festival season. The Election Commission of India (ECI) which has issued notification on Saturday for the by-elections in three Assembly segments in West Bengal and one in Odisha, clarified that the Huzurabad bypoll will be held only after Dasara. Accordingly, the bypoll is likely to be held in November or December.

The ECI held a video conference recently with the Chief Secretaries and DGPs of various States where Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and DGP M Mahender Reddy also participated. During the video conference, Somesh Kumar brought to the notice of the ECI the constraints related to flood situations, festivals and pandemic. He suggested that it would be advisable to have the bypolls after the end of festival season, the ECI clarified on Saturday. The by-elections to Badvel segment in Andhra Pradesh also is likely to be held along with Huzurabad Assembly bypolls.

The by-elections to the Huzurabad Assembly constituency, were necessitated following the resignation of former Minister Eatala Rajender to the ruling TRS and also the MLA seat on June 12 this year. He had joined BJP and commenced his campaign. The TRS also announced the candidature of TRS student wing leader Gellu Srinivas Yadav from the Assembly constituency. Ever since, both the parties have been busy with the poll campaign.
