Hyderabad: A 21-year-old woman and her father were crushed to death under the wheels of a speeding tipper lorry at Aramghar crossroads on Wednesday night, turning their family’s wedding preparations into a tragedy just a week before the woman was scheduled to get married.
The victims were identified as Bushra Begum, 21, and her father Ismail Khan, residents of Attapur.
The father and daughter were reportedly out attending to wedding-related work when the accident occurred.
According to police, Ismail Khan and Bushra Begum were travelling on a TVS Champ motorcycle towards Attapur when the tipper, carrying a load of gravel from Hayathnagar towards Attapur, reached Aramghar crossroads at high speed. The driver allegedly lost control and rammed the motorcycle while the father and daughter were travelling along the side of the road.
The impact threw the motorcycle off balance and the tipper dragged the victims for some distance before they came under its rear wheels. Both suffered severe injuries and died at the spot.
Police rushed to the scene and, with considerable difficulty, removed the bodies from beneath the lorry. The bodies were shifted to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem examination.
The Mailardevpally police registered a case and are investigating the accident.
