Hyderabad: 86 roosters seized in cockfighting bust auctioned for Rs. 16.6 lakh

Hyderabad: The 86 roosters seized by the Moinabad police during a raid at a farm house where cockfighting was organized six days ago were sold at a public auction on Monday.
The police had arrested 64 persons during a raid at a farm house in Moinabad where the rooster fight was organised. The police seized over Rs. 30 lakhs in cash, 86 roosters, casino coins and seized 54 cars during the raid.
The police deposited the property in the court. As the roosters required good care in view of the prevailing bird flu and needed proper safety, the court decided to auction the roosters.
On Monday, a public auction was held at Upparpally court at Rajendranagar where the roosters were put to auction. The 86 roosters were auctioned for an amount of Rs. 16.60 lakhs.
