Hyderabad ACB catches engineer accepting Rs 10,000 bribe

Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Tuesday caught a Deputy Executive Engineer of the Quality Control Cell, Musheerabad Division, red-handed while he was allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
According to the ACB, the official, Sai Ram, demanded and accepted the bribe in return for extending an official favour in connection with a Quality Control Certificate already issued for the complainant’s first contract work and for issuing a Quality Control Certificate for a second contract work.
ACB officials trapped the officer on Tuesday and recovered the bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from his possession at his instance. The ACB said the officer had improperly and dishonestly performed his official duties to obtain an undue advantage.
The accused officer is being produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Nampally, for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
