Hyderabad: ACB takes custody of tainted irrigation engineer Nikesh Kumar
The ACB had requested the court to grant custody of the irrigation officer who was arrested after a case of DA (disproportionate assets) was registered against him early this month
Hyderabad: A local court granted the Anti -Corruption Bureau (ACB) custody of Nikesh Kumar, Assistant Executive Engineer of Irrigation Department.
The ACB had requested the court to grant custody of the irrigation officer who was arrested after a case of DA (disproportionate assets) was registered against him early this month.
The ACB officials found assets valued at over Rs.17 crore owned by Nikesh Kumar, and his family members which are disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The officials pegged the market value of the assets that include a villa, flat, plots, agriculture land and gold ornaments worth over Rs.100 crores.
The ACB after taking custody of the official would open the bank lockers and examine the articles and documents kept in there.
Nikesh was earlier trapped by the ACB team in May when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 2 lakh along with three other officials working in irrigation and revenue department.
On Thursday, a ACB team went to Central Prison Chanchalguda and took custody of Nikesh Kumar, he is shifted to the ACB office where he will be questioned.
