Following directives from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and union Health Ministry, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has activated the screening.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Ebola as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) resulting in a multi-layered surveillance protocol at airports.

The RGIA has also instituted several mandatory procedures for passengers arriving from or transiting through affected regions, specifically Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and other high-risk areas.

Passengers from identified regions must complete a formal health declaration before disembarking.

All international arrivals are now subject to mandatory thermal scanning and passengers reporting muscle pain, fatigue, or other associated indicators will be directed to specialised medical teams.

In the event of a suspected case, the airport has established dedicated isolation bays for safe assessment and medical referral of passengers while ensuring the aircraft and terminal areas remain protected through disinfection protocols.

Passengers should look out for symptoms such as fever, weakness or fatigue, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhoea, skin rash and unexplained bleeding.
