Hyderabad: Auto driver who set himself on fire dies

Due to the mounting debts and no revenue sources, the man is suspected to have ended his life

Hyderabad: An auto rickshaw driver who had set himself on fire two days ago at Langer Houz due to financial problems died while undergoing treatment on Sunday.

According to the police, the man S Vijay Kumar (45) a resident of Bapu Nagar in Langar Houz on Friday doused him with petrol and set himself ablaze near NTR Statue, Langer Houz. The police and local people doused the fire and shifted the man to Osmania General Hospital for treatment. Vijay Kumar succumbed to the burns on Sunday.

The family members of the man told the police that Vijay Kumar slipped into depression due to low income and had taken loan from people. Due to the mounting debts and no revenue sources, the man is suspected to have ended his life.

The Langer Houz police registered a case and are investigating.
