Hyderabad: Bapu Ghat in Langar Houz was submerged as the River Musi overflowed on Friday night. The ghat, built at the confluence of the Musi and Esi Rivers, is the site where the ashes of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, were immersed.

Covering 68 acres, Bapu Ghat houses a 76-foot-long collage wall featuring more than 400 pictures of Mahatma Gandhi. The site also includes a small museum and garden. Currently, Bapu Ghat is shut, and public access is restricted. The emerging situation cast a shadow on the arrangements being made at Bapu Ghat for Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary on October 2.
