Hyderabad-based ’24 Mantra’ ushering in organic revolution

Hyderabad: The Covid-19 pandemic has put the spotlight on everything safe and secure, including healthy food consumption, sharpening the appetite for organic food. Grown and cultivated without the use of any harmful chemicals and pesticides, organic foods are considered to be a healthy option, especially during times such as these.

Around 90 per cent of consumers said they felt their overall health and immunity have improved with the intake of organic products, a survey by CUTS, a non-profit NGO that works on issues of public interest.

Hyderabad-based 24 Mantra is one such brand that has been at the forefront of the organic revolution, well ahead of its time with a wide array of organic products like pulses, lentils, rice and other staples.

What began as a seed sown to inspire farmers to grow organic, has today grown into the country’s largest organic revolution. The organic food brand. Even amid the pandemic, it was able to produce over 40,000 tonnes.

“It is just the beginning of a journey to fulfilling a dream and a vision, of growing one million-strong community of organic farmers in India”, says Rajashekhar Reddy Seelam, who founded Sresta Natural Bioproducts in 2004, the company that owns the 24 Mantra. N Balasubramanian, his friend, had joined him as CEO of the venture.

“Hailing from an agriculture family, I was alarmed to see the soil, plants and nature being poisoned by the pesticides and chemicals and the deep impact this had on the farmers and rural indebtedness. We wanted to transform the lives of the farmers, create means of sustainability for them and a greener world for future generations,” he adds.

Engaging with one farmer at a time and convincing them to shift to organic farming was by no means an easy task. Presently, they have well-equipped infrastructure including 26 processing units and five production and packaging units to bring out over 1.5 million packs per month of its current over 200 products.
