Hyderabad: When it comes to the music field, Hyderabad has few Independent artistes, and it’s not at all easy for them to make their name, or gain fame, in the market. Pranati Khanna, aka Peekay, who got her own fans for her hip-hop songs, is now coming out with her new album ‘Sunshine on the Street’.
The 25-year-old keeps performing all over India, and she has recently collaborated with the ‘Pink’ actor Andrea Tariang for the upcoming song ‘Sunshine on the Street’. “Andrea would be making the video from her place and I would be shooting my part here. It’s fun and I’m also excited about the song which would be releasing by January end. The song talks about LGTBQIA community most of the people should understand and respect them too,” says Peekay, who runs her own advertising agency.
“Art and music are always side by side; I started playing from the age of four. I should thank my mother who taught me to play Piano. My parents used to listen to more rock and pop music, which influenced me a lot. I also do a lot of private shows, and I’m really happy with the response from people, who accepted my new avatar Peekay,” she says, laughing out loud.
Peekay’s other song ‘Much Better’ talks about the spirit of the children who live in the slums behind her apartment. “So far, I have released four to five songs but I have 40 songs lined up, which would be released one by one,” says Peekay, who would be working for an international project soon.
“I have travelled all over India to perform, and the best part of coming back home is my pet Tito, who is my forever stress buster. I would love to collaborate with and also encourage young artistes, who want to prove themselves in the music industry.”
Peekay is also an artiste who talks about a positive outlook to life, highlights peoples’ rights against abuse, and focuses on love and acceptance. The numerous talks she has been invited to give have aided her in spreading her message far and wide. She shares her thoughts expressively, in every song she writes or melody she performs, regardless of the genre – be it pop, pop-rock or RnB.
