Hyderabad-based EYVA study links late nights to poorer next-day metabolic wellness

An analysis of 35 lakh wellness scans by EYVA suggests that late dinners, poor sleep and irregular evening routines may negatively influence next-morning metabolic wellness. The company says its AI-powered platform helps users better understand lifestyle patterns through personalised wellness insights.

Hyderabad: Late nights, heavy dinners and inadequate sleep may be silently affecting metabolic wellness scores the next morning, according to an analysis of Hyderabad-based metabolic wellness tracker EYVA.

The observations are based on de-identified, aggregated data collected from 1,600 families in Hyderabad over a period of one year. According to the company, everyday lifestyle habits, particularly those related to evening routines, have a measurable impact on next-morning metabolic wellness.

EYVA, a touch-based metabolic wellness tracking platform, said many people regularly monitor parameters such as steps, sleep, calories and screen time but have little understanding of their metabolic wellness on a day-to-day basis.

Sunil Maddikatla, Founder and CEO, EYVA, emphasised the worrying trend of “metabolic blindness”, referring to a person’s total lack of awareness regarding their internal metabolic wellness. “Most people only realise something is wrong after it has already affected their energy, focus and recovery. We wanted to understand these patterns through data collected over millions of wellness scans,” Maddikatla said.

The analysis identified two recurring trends. The first related to workouts and heavy dinners late into the evening and insufficient sleep, while the second focused on how the body winds down and recovers overnight.

EYVA describes the next-day effects of late dinners and poor sleep as a “metabolic hangover”. According to the analysis, consuming heavy or sugary meals late at night, when the body’s metabolism naturally slows down, may lead to higher glucose trends the following morning compared with an individual’s personal baseline.

The observations also found that people who stayed awake late recorded higher morning glucose trends and lower metabolic wellness scores, suggesting the body may already be under strain before the day begins.

The company further observed that elevated heart rates late into the night were associated with poorer sleep quality and slower recovery, factors reflected in lower wellness scores the following morning.

Maddikatla said EYVA Garden, the company’s new AI-powered wellness feature, allows users to record meals, voice notes and personal observations alongside wellness metrics, providing context that helps users better understand how daily habits influence their metabolic health.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Hyderabad, BlueSemi developed EYVA, which the company describes as the world’s first touch-based metabolic wellness tracker. According to the company, its AI-powered platform combines wellness data with lifestyle inputs to provide personalised wellness insights.

The company said the findings were derived by comparing each user’s final evening scan with the following morning’s metabolic wellness score against that individual’s baseline.

EYVA clarified it is designed to share everyday wellness insights and drive healthy lifestyle choices through awareness. The device is not intended to diagnose, treat or manage any medical condition, it added.
