Hyderabad-based NGO ‘Helping Humans’ in times of crisis
Abdul Yousuf, a law student from the Symbiosis Law school started the NGO Helping Humans along with his contacts, all law students, to lend a helping hand to those in need
Hyderabad: As Covid-19 cases continue to mount pressure on the city’s health infrastructure, more people are seeking help to gain access to immediate medical assistance, hospitals, oxygen cylinders, plasma and drugs like Remdesivir. Among those who are working to help such people is the NGO Helping Humans Hyderabad.
Abdul Yousuf, a law student from the Symbiosis Law school started the initiative along with his contacts, all law students, to lend a helping hand to those in need. So far, the team has been successful in providing 448 beds at hospitals, 560 oxygen cylinders, 66 medicines including Remdevisir, Tocilizumab and Itolizumab to those who contacted them.
“If not now, when? If not us, who? We have joined hands together to fight for those who are helpless in these unfortunate times. We began the initiative with the mere idea of helping and making a difference in the lives of at least five people. Today, we receive closely 400 calls every day seeking help. We are doing our best to fulfil the requirements of each hand that has asked for help,” says Yousuf, adding that receiving appreciation from MLC K Kavitha has made them believe that they are on the right path.
Their services are not just limited to Hyderabad. The organisation is helping people from different cities such as Bengaluru, in Gujarat, Delhi, Patna and Kerala. Recently, the team was able to airlift a patient from Patna to Hyderabad for special treatment.
