Hyderabad: Narisena Global Women Forum (NGWF), a city based NGO, has initiated a donation drive where they collect clothes, unwanted electronics, books, shoes, etc, and donate it to the underprivileged and the needy.
Titled “Kind Street”, this initiative was first implemented earlier at Nizampet, to good success. Later, it was done at several places in and around the city, apart from being done in Karnataka as well.
“Many of us tend to buy a lot of clothes but end up not using most of them. They lie untouched in our wardrobes and I felt something can be done with these clothes and also other household goods,” says Latha Chowdary Botla, the founder-chairperson of NGWF.
The initiative aims to spread the idea of ‘Donate, Don’t Dump” and raise donations of clothes, books, toys, and more.
The forum, which conducts several social campaigns every year to support and uplift the needy from across the State is next conducting the drive at Basavatarakam Hospital in Banjara Hills, on March 5.
The key members of this initiative include their Domalguda team leader Manjula Deshpande, Shivam Road team leader Paatali Manne Radha, members Gunothama, Sridevi, Rajeshwari, Jhansi, Pranathi and Sarita Sumalatha.
