When it comes to rap, it’s not easy to make a mark, especially in different languages. However, a city-based group of young rappers has managed to do just that and attracted the attention of well-known rapper Raftaar along the way.
Rival Mob comprising of seven talented rappers has already come out with over 30 songs and is swiftly becoming popular in the city. The team features Arun Raj (AJ), Akhil Bandhu (A-B), Paul-D Boris Bennet, Sumit Jha (Trap –B), Anirudh (BLU) Santosh (Pintwenty). The group says their inspiration is the South Korean septet, BTS.
Arun who hails from Hyderabad says the group started out of a common passion for rap. “I have been working on rap songs from the past four years. Since we all bonded over rap, we decided start Rival Mob in 2019.” They are a multilingual rap crew and use a unique blend of languages – Telugu, Hindi, English and Tamil. From mixing, mastering the tracks to shooting and editing videos, the crew does everything on their own and keeps putting out the fresh content on their YouTube channel. they came with new song called AJ- Funeral which is doing well on Youtube.
The group has performed on various platforms and won many hearts.“Sometimes it’s very hard to figure out what to focus on – work or passion. But when you love something you will definitely find time to do it. We all met at an event and shared our thoughts which led to Rival Mob,” says Paul who works for a software company.
The team recently created a rap song for their favourite rapper Raftaar which was released on a radio channel. “We never expected Raftaar would respond to the song we made about him. We happy seeing his reaction which boosted our confidence,” adds Arun who is now working on an upcoming project The Mob.
