Hyderabad-based startup provides ‘smart mirror’ for personalised workouts
Portl Mirror and Portl Pro use advanced AI to provide real-time exercise form analysis and correction feedback
Hyderabad: The Covid-19 induced lockdown has put brakes on the fitness regime of regulars as well as newbies wanting to go the fitness path. While this period also saw a rise in many fitness apps and personalised coaches, not many have been able to come closer to providing customised fitness regimes.
However, one Hyderabad-based startup is changing the way we stay fit by providing a smart mirror that provides highly personalised programmes for your fitness goals.
Unveiled by Portl, the mirror comes in two formats — The Portl Mirror and the Portl Pro. Both the platforms use advanced AI to provide real-time exercise form analysis and correction feedback along with providing details on nutrition and wellness. After spending over a year in developing the product, second-time entrepreneurs Indraneel Gupta and Vishal Chandapeta founded the startup in March this year.
“As fitness enthusiasts, we have always been working in this segment since the start of our careers. And with the pandemic, we realised that health and fitness app does help to an extent though it may not be fully useful. For example while working out if the posture and form is not right then the workout is of no use,” said Gupta.
Similarly, while performing Yoga, one needs to mindful of the right posture of the asanas and breathing. “That is when we thought of combining software and hardware technology to launch a smart mirror that acts as your personalised guide in not just correcting our posture but also provides details on the body vitals and nutrition to be followed in real-time,” he said.
The Portl Mirror is an intelligent mirror with a 43” 4K screen weighing 40 kgs, HD cameras, AI processing with Wifi, Bluetooth connectivity and is capable of delivering on-demand fitness and wellness solutions across multiple workout formats.
Meanwhile, the Portl Pro is a 32” screen with a digital weight mechanism and has all features of the Portl Mirror. The Pro can deliver 100 kg of electronic resistance through cable arms and both the devices can be wall-mounted or floor standing occupying minimal space.
